Whether you’re aware of them or not, you’re making agreements and contracts all the time, and every day you’re operating under agreements you’ve made before.
An agreement is anything you’ve said yes to. For example, a job you took, a program of study you’re in, or a way of thinking.
We’re not always conscious about the agreements we’ve made, and there may be agreements we made with certain conditions that aren’t ideal, but we still chose them.
Having an awareness of the agreements you’ve made, as well as not made, and taking responsibility for them is incredibly empowering. It means you have the power to choose whether or not to stay in the agreement, renegotiate the terms of the agreement, or to exit the agreement entirely.
If you find yourself repeatedly complaining about things, your body keeps gets activated, or you’re unhappy in life, it might be because there’s an agreement you’ve made that no longer works for you. When you notice these things, it’s helpful to pause, reflect, and bring awareness to these old agreements that need to change.
