At the time I’m writing this, I rent a very old, one bedroom apartment.
The water in the kitchen and bathroom get hot 20% of the time if I’m lucky, there’s no AC, the washer and dryer are outside the apartment on another floor, there are nail holes everywhere from the last tenant, and I LOVE THIS APARTMENT.
Why? Because I’ve slowly been making it a place I love.
The past few months, I’ve slowly been working on making it a home, a place I love to be in that’s a haven. In other words, I’ve been intentionally creating my environment, including my home music studio space.
As I’ve created this home and studio I love to be in, there are three elements I’ve considered when it comes to environment design.
Create an environment:
- You Take Pride In
- You Feel Good In
- That Supports Your Desired Habits & Values
It’s important to pace yourself in this process, knowing it will take time and, perhaps, some financial investment. This also invites your creativity. You may not be able to buy the perfect couch and living room table you dream of, but how can you get creative to still hit the above three guidelines?
