Everyone is born creative. It’s like having a heart. Everyone has it from the beginning. As a kid, you’re in touch with your creativity because you’re not thinking about how you do things, you’re just doing them and expressing yourself.
As kids get older, they start getting put into categories, the ones who are “good” at things and the one who aren’t. That gets further broken up into the ones who make art and the ones who don’t, which often gets coded in our minds as the ones who are creative and the ones who are not.
Creativity is not the same thing as making art.
Creativity is the way you express yourself in the world. It can be found in how you solve problems, paint a picture, or make something. It can also be found in the way you prepare a meal, how you decorate your house, or the way you have conversations.
It’s the way you do things and show up in the world that makes your creativity visible. The more you do that in your own way, the more you are expressing your inherent creativity.
